Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster is the seventh of a series of direct-to-video animated films based upon the Scooby-Doo Saturday morning cartoons. It was released on June 22, 2004, and it was produced by Warner Bros. Animation (although Warner Bros. had fully absorbed Hanna-Barbera Cartoons by this time, Hanna-Barbera was still credited as the copyright holder and the movie ended with an H-B logo). In it, the Mystery Inc. gang encounter the Loch Ness Monster.
This time the gang are on holiday at Blake Castle, Daphne’s Scottish ancestral home, helping her family host a Highland games event. But when something gigantic - and very, very scary - appears outside the castle window, mystery and mayhem begin as Scooby-Doo and crew try to solve one of history’s longest-running mysteries, the myth of the Loch Ness Monster…
This movie is one of the few films to feature both a fake monster (actually two fakes) and a real one (the real Nessie is captured on film and seen by Scooby-Doo at the end).

“The animation has evolved well. The Hanna-Barbera team has wisely embraced the stylings of their eastern brethren, and the anime influence is clearly evident. The enhanced facial expressions give the characters more life and the varied camera angles give the film more depth. The chase sequences are a perfect example at how cinematic the franchise has become. Even the CGI elements (most notably Nessie herself), often troublesome and blatantly out of place, blend seamlessly into the action. If you can get past the bad Scottish accents, you’ll find Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster to be a fun, engaging, non-formulaic adventure the entire clan will enjoy.” Michael Stailey, DVD Verdict
