Tag (Sion Sono) – Eureka Entertainment Blu-ray + DVD (UK)

Buy Blu-ray + DVD:

Japanese auteur Sion Sono follows up the deliriously entertaining Tokyo Tribe, with Tag, a surreal horror that combines his arthouse aesthetics with equal doses of pro-feminist action fantasy, and the kind of ultra-gory exploitation filmmaking that would make Takashi Miike and Yoshihiro Nishimura proud.

Mitsuko (Reina Triendl) is the sole survivor of a bizarre paranormal incident that kills all of her classmates. Running for her life, Mitsuko seemingly slips into an alternate reality, but death and chaos seems to follow her everywhere. As Mitsuko finds herself in increasingly surreal and violent situations, the true horror behind her nightmare is revealed.

With a jaw-dropping opening sequence reminiscent of Sono’s earlier cult masterpiece, Suicide Club, Tag is a mind-bending slice of action-horror, Alice in Wonderland meets Tokyo Gore Police, and Eureka Entertainment is proud to present the film on Blu-ray + DVD.

The Orchard End Murder (1980) – BFI Flipside Blu-ray + DVD (UK)

Set in an idyllic Kent village one balmy summer during the 1960s, this obscure British oddity is a macabre tale of murder and mischief

A young woman from the suburbs (Tracy Hyde), bored by a countryside tryst, wanders off to explore her surroundings. When she meets a gnome-like stationmaster and his towering, half-witted railway-worker friend (played by Casualty‘s Clive Mantle), an initially strange encounter turns sinister among the trees of a nearby orchard.

Written and directed by Christian Marnham and shot by Pete Walker’s regular cameraman Peter Jessop, The Orchard End Murder is a violent, darkly humorous thriller, unseen since it originally shocked UK cinema audiences as the supporting feature to Gary Sherman’s Dead & Buried.

Special features

  • Presented in both High Definition and Standard Definition

Ogroff aka Mad Mutilator -Videonomicon DVD (US)

One of the first truly underground French horror/slasher films – officially available in North America for the first time ever – Norbert Moutier’s Super 8mm gore-fest Ogroff (aka Mad Mutilator)!

For Ogroff, the mad lumberjack, the war is not over yet. Having suffered trepanation and ablated in one eye during the war Ogroff continues the fight by brutally killing anyone who enters the forest where he now resides. That is until one woman catches his eye and things get even weirder! Friends, families, kids, cars – no one and no thing is safe from the Mad Mutilator!

Norbert Moutier (credited as N.G Mount), at the time a video shoppe owner, started filming in 1982 with no money but with a lot of passion. His dream: to achieve a French horror version of films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, and Night of the Living Dead that he could rent in his own store.

What resulted over weekend shoots in the French countryside with the help of friends and other cinephiles (Alain Petit, Midnight Party, Zombie Lake) became a violent, over-the-top, bizarre, nonsensical, and nearly dialogue-free cult oddity which features the special participation of Jess Franco regular Howard Vernon (A Virgin Among the Living Dead, The Erotic Rites of Frankenstein) in a surprising and strange supporting role.

Videonomicon brings this rarely seen one-of-a-kind horror masterpiece (or disasterpiece depending on how you view it) completely uncut and uncensored in its original French language with improved subtitles and newly remastered picture!

Two versions of the movie: 2016 Colour Graded Remaster & Original Tape Transfer! Subtitle options: English, French, Spanish! Stills Gallery! Trailer! DVD-ROM Content! Includes liner notes featuring writings and reviews by Andy Bolus and Joseph A. Ziemba! Two completely different reversible cover options featuring new and original artwork!

Daughter of Dracula – Redemption Blu-ray (US)

In the early 1970s, cult filmmaker Jess Franco inspired by the Hammer horror films being made in the UK revisited the iconic monsters of yesteryear, placing them in the castles and crypts of the Spanish countryside, and bracketing the thrills with scenes of frank eroticism. Daughter of Dracula was inspired by Sheridan LeFanu s Carmilla (which was also the source of Hammer s lesbian vampire trilogy), but as one might expect, Franco s version was unlike any treatment the story had yet received. When the nude body of a murdered woman washes onto the beach, a police inspector (Alberto Dalbés) and a reporter (Fernando Bilbao) focus their attention on the castle of Count Max Karlstein (composer Daniel White) and his niece (Britt Nichols, The Demons), a beautiful woman who appears to be wrestling with an ancestral curse.

Italian Police Inspector Aristide D’Amato and his German counterpart Hans Ebert initiate their criminal investigations. They stumble upon the eccentric Professor Vassago – a master of myths and mysteries – who is linked to Senator Vinci – a corrupt politician – mutually driven by power and perversions. The suspicion grows that these atrocious crimes are connected with the return of one of the most heinous serial killers of our time – Karl the Butcher!

First 3000 copies include: CD – Original Soundtrack by Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, Collectible Blu-ray/DVD Slipcase and Sleeve, 24 Page Booklet.

The relentless Karl the Butcher, beloved and best known to gorehounds and German Underground aficionados has been revamped and re-envisioned; his trademark brutality in the likes of the distinctly German independent VIOLENT SHIT now remade into an equally ghastly giallo featuring a Claudio Simonetti soundtrack.

VIOLENT SHIT — THE MOVIE is an homage to both the original’s 25th anniversary and the producer’s love of Italian horror and blends German gore movies with the mastery of Italian horror. The film stars Italian genre mainstay Giovanni Lombardo Radice as the devil incarnate, who masterminds Karl the Butcher’s evil murder spree. Italian directors Enzo G. Castellari (INGLORIOUS BASTARDS) and Luigi Cozzi (CONTAMINATION) have cameos in the movie, as well as Lucio Fulci’s screenwriter Antonio Tentori and SUSPIRIA’s Barbara Magnolfi. -Fangoria

Satan’s Blade – Arrow Video (UK)

One of the lesser known entries in the annals of the 80s slasher film, Satan’s Blade is an eerie slice of US regional terror ripe for rediscovery by horror fans.

Arriving at a snow-capped mountain resort, a group of youngsters are met by the news that a double-murder has taken place there the previous night. Despite this grisly revelation, they decide to stay on, unaware of the knife-wielding figure stalking the wintry landscape… Could the local legend of an ungodly mountain man with a grudge against outsiders have some truth in it?

Shot in Big Bear, California in 1980 but not released until 1984, L. Scott Castillo, Jr. s Satan’s Blade overcomes the limitations of its shoestring budget with a game cast and all-pervasive, creepy atmosphere – key to which is a freakish nightmare sequence that s sure to inspire more than a few sleepless nights.
