The Legend of Hillbilly John – Kino Lorber Blu-ray | DVD (US)

Buy Blu-ray |

Defying the devil… standing up to evil, looking it right square in the eye and facing it down is a perilous calling and in the hills and hollows of Appalachia it s downright insane undertaking. But when young Hillbilly John (Hedges Capers) saw his kin struck down during a defying ritual, he look up the vocation, vowing to seek out the devil wherever he might hide, no matter what the danger.

Now, some say the devil and such are just legends, but mountain folk swear it s true. John on a cross-country journey defies them all, witches, monsters, a voodoo priest, son of Satan and is headed toward Washington D.C. to take care of the all the devils at our country’s capital.

Based on a best-selling book Who Fears the Devil? by Manly Wade Wellman (The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery), The Legend of Hillbilly John is an eerie cult classic stylishly directed by TV veteran John Newland (Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark). Featuring songs by Hedges Capers with a score by Roger Kellaway (A Star is Born 77) and a top-notch cast featuring R.G. Der Todesking – Arrow Video Limited edition Blu-ray + DVD + CD (UK)

Buy –

As a chain letter from the self-proclaimed Brotherhood of the 7th Day circulates encouraging its recipients to end their lives, a series of grim murder-suicides unfold.

In one vignette, a young woman massacres a room of concert-goers before turning the gun on herself; in another, a man, driven to madness by some unspecified mental disturbance, repeatedly slams his head into a wall before collapsing in a pool of his own blood… These are just some of depictions of death and despair that make up the tortured fabric of Der Todesking.

Regarded by many as director Jörg Buttgereit s most accomplished work, Der Todesking is an existential masterpiece – a powerfully haunting howl of rage from one of the genre’s most underrated filmmakers.

Tag (Sion Sono) – Eureka Entertainment Blu-ray + DVD (UK)

Buy Blu-ray + DVD:

Japanese auteur Sion Sono follows up the deliriously entertaining Tokyo Tribe, with Tag, a surreal horror that combines his arthouse aesthetics with equal doses of pro-feminist action fantasy, and the kind of ultra-gory exploitation filmmaking that would make Takashi Miike and Yoshihiro Nishimura proud.

Mitsuko (Reina Triendl) is the sole survivor of a bizarre paranormal incident that kills all of her classmates. Running for her life, Mitsuko seemingly slips into an alternate reality, but death and chaos seems to follow her everywhere. As Mitsuko finds herself in increasingly surreal and violent situations, the true horror behind her nightmare is revealed.

With a jaw-dropping opening sequence reminiscent of Sono’s earlier cult masterpiece, Suicide Club, Tag is a mind-bending slice of action-horror, Alice in Wonderland meets Tokyo Gore Police, and Eureka Entertainment is proud to present the film on Blu-ray + DVD.
