‘Fear has found a home’
The Cabin – aka A Night in the Cabin – is a 2017 Swedish-American horror thriller feature film directed by Johan Bodell from a screenplay by Erik Kammerland. The movie stars Christopher Lee Page, Caitlin Crommett and Erik Kammerland.
A young American couple, Rose (Caitlin Crommett) and Harry (Christopher Lee Page) are on their way to visit Harrys family cabin; both as a nostalgic vacation and as a way to rekindle their relationship. However, they’re not the only one that decided to visit the cabin this weekend…
The vacation is quickly turned into a living nightmare for Rose and Harry as they meet a vicious sociopath, who invites them into a involuntary cat and mouse game…
“The colors and scenery work together so well to give the film a sense of isolation, so you really feel it when Sven finally reveals just how horrible he can be. The Cabin is a quick and brutal film. There isn’t a ton of new ground that gets broken, but it’s certainly done well and filled with plenty of decent gore.” B&S About Movies
” …The Cabin is a well played game of cat and mouse with heaps of escalating tension and cold, bleak, landscapes all delivered with a palette of washed out color…which combines to make a unique film that’s a cut above the rest (pun intended). Adding to that are the strong performances of Crommett, Page, and Kammerland…” Horror Fuel
“There are a few surprises in the movie that specifically play on your expectations of the genre. I’ve heard say that there are no new stories, just new ways of telling them. That’s definitely the case here. Bodell throws in some interesting twists to keep things entertaining. The Cabin takes us to familiar territory, but offers us new sights to see.” John Migliore, Indie Horror Online
High Octane Pictures is releasing the film in North America as The Cabin on VOD and DVD on December 4, 2018.
