Asih – Indonesia, 2018

‘From the Danur universe’

Asih is a 2018 Indonesian supernatural horror film directed by Awi Suryadi (Danur 2: Maddah; Danur: I Can See Ghosts; Badoet) from a screenplay by Lele Laila and a storyline by Adam Ripp and Paul Todisco, based on novel by Risa Saraswati. The Manoj Punjabi production for MD Pictures stars Shareefa Daanish, Citra Kirana and Darius Sinathrya.

Twenty-eight year-old Asih (Shareefa Daanish) committed suicide because of the many unfortunate events that happened to her. She was driven from home by her mother and father because she had become pregnant with an unwanted child. The local villagers mocked Asih relentlessly. Driven insane, she murdered her baby before ending her own life.

Nearby, Puspita (Citra Kirana) is pregnant. Living with her husband, Andi, and mother-in-law, the family seem happy, especially as the baby is expected in two months. However, strange events continue to haunt Puspita and her family, seemingly caused by Asih’s spirit. What does Asih really want? All is answered after Puspita gives birth to her baby earlier than expected…

Asih was released in Indonesia on 11 October 2018.
