Filmgore is a 1983 American film compilation of highlights from ten horror movies directed by Ken Dixon (Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity; Zombiethon; The Best of Sex and Violence) from a screenplay co-written with Forrest J Ackerman (editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland). The film was produced by Charles Band and is hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (Cassandra Peterson).
“A bloody collection of film clips from many of the most violent films ever made. Driller Killers, Plasmatic Perverts and Sadistic Slashers are just a few of the disturbed individuals starring in this morbid collage.”
The films featured are:
- The Astro-Zombies
- Blood Feast
- Carnival of Blood
- Dr. Jekyll’s Dungeon of Death
- The Driller Killer
- Drive In Massacre
- The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
- Two Thousand Maniacs!
“The flick clocks in at a whopping two hours, which is too long for a compilation of just about anything. Then there are Elvira’s constant intrusions on the action. Basically, she just stands around with her cleavage stuck and tells awful jokes. (I could’ve done without the latter).” Mitch Lovell, The Video Vacuum
“The odds are high that, if you’re a horror nerd like myself, you’ve already seen (and probably own) a handful of the movies featured. But it’s not without its merits. Maybe put it on as background noise if you’re having a party and have a bunch of creeps for friends, it could serve as a great distraction…” Sean Leonard, HorrorNews.net
