Reviews:

” …a fun and intense ride through some of the darker haunts in the country, and you barely feel like you’ve been watching a found footage film. When things take a turn for the worst, it happens fast. My only con for the movie Screen Shot 2017-12-01 at 12.30.58was that the ending felt a bit confusing, perhaps trying to be too clever for its own good. That doesn’t take away from the rest of the experience.” Tim Miller, Pop Horror

Like any good sequel, The Houses That October Built 2 takes everything we loved from the first film and expands those elements, while at the same time giving us something bigger, better, and faster this go-around. Want more haunted attractions? You got it. Want more of the bearded man-boy everyone loves, Mikey Roe? You got him.” Mike Sprague, Arrow in the Head

The Houses October Built 2 is above all things fun! There is no soul-searching in the script, no deep miasmas of psychology or great epiphanies on love and relationships; this is not that kind of film. Instead, this is a haunted hayride in October put onto film and given a frivolously enjoyable kick. There are chainsaws, laser boobs, zombies, and decapitated heads…” Jeannie Blue, Cryptic Rock

“This budding franchise is on the cutting edge of bringing the Extreme Hunt phenomenon into theaters and living rooms, giving a somewhat obscure subculture time in the limelight. Those while a knee-jerk disdain towards found-footage, mockumentaries, and experimental/meta-filmmaking should probably stick to more mainstream fare, but adventurous aficionados will enjoy the romp.” Joshua Millican, Horrorfreak News

“Despite the similarities to the first, I had a blast with The Houses October Built 2 and think fans will be pleasantly surprised with the story’s continuation and ultimate conclusion. It’s smart, funny and ties a tidy ribbon around the two films, crafting a neat Halloween double-bill that is filled with scary thrills, laughs and an ending that is sure to shock.” Jessy Williams, Scream magazine

“Like the first film, this dawdles a bit in the first hour – though the varied haunts show a lot of creativity and some wit – and then gets a bit conventional when it comes to the protracted torture of the patsies.  But it’s all redeemed by a finale that goes into unexpected areas – maybe even setting up a part three which is more character-based.” The Kim Newman Web Site

The Houses October Built 2 is once again cut to include the friends’ footage and scenes shot by the Blue Skeleton folks — the former sometimes with songs and onscreen text, the latter always with ominous score. Toss in some flat ADR work, questionable filming choices, and pacing that leaves the supposedly scary scenes for the third act, and you have a sequel that’s more found footage trick than horror movie treat.” Rob Hunter, Film School Rejects
