Black Creek – USA, 2017

‘The hunting season in black creek is about to begin’

Black Creek is a 2017 British-American supernatural horror film written and directed by James Crow (Nightmare on 34th Street; A Suburban FairytaleHouse of Salem). The Last British Dragon production stars Chris O’Flyng, Leah Patrick and Michael Copon (Scorpion King 2, Night of the Demons).

Plot:

Mike and Heather’s father die and they go to his favourite spot to spread his ashes. A cabin in the secluded woods. They are joined by some friends as they go for what is supposed to be somewhat of a holiday. While there, a demon emits chaos by possessing the teens and they commit horrible acts…

Reviews:

” …Black Creek is a slasher flick with a cool score and slick cinematography, but horrible dialogue and even worse acting continuously bash our heads into submission. If you can overlook bad acting, give the film a viewing. But if you’re like me and bad acting serves as little more than a constant cheese grater to the brain, then steer clear of this creek. You’ve been warned.” Mike Sprague, Arrow in the Head

Blood Creek is rather banal when it comes to modern Horror attempts. It takes nearly fifty minutes for the poo to hit those swinging fan-blades and, by that point, viewer’s have long since checked out on this blasé production. In fact, it only gets worse when the possessions pile-up and the cheesy sound effects enter stage left.” Jeannie Blue, Cryptic Rock

“For a horror film, Black Creek has little by way of horror. Frightening slasher plots only start up by the third act, and in a film that already lacks atmosphere, this is not redeemable. Beyond the incredibly poor pacing (so badly done, it is a feat in itself) is the fact that nothing about the film is ever scary, nor even creepy.” Chelsea Phillips-Carr, Goomba Stomp

“The bodies found with stakes through the eyes are a macabre touch. Unfortunately, there’s too little of this kind of thing, much of the film is very tame. Given the casting of O’Flyng in the lead this makes sense, the audience he’ll attract would probably be traumatized by a full-on horror film. This is horror lite for the same people who find 3 AM phone challenge videos creepy.” Jim Morazzini, Voices from the Balcony
