‘Witness the darkest chapter in The Conjuring universe’
The Nun is a 2018 American supernatural horror feature film directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow) from a screenplay by James Wan (The Conjuring; Saw) and Gary Dauberman (IT; Wolves at the Door; Swamp Monkey; et al).
The movie features Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) as Sister Irene, alongside Demian Bichir as Father Burke, Jonas Bloquet as Frenchie, Charlotte Hope as the abbey’s Sister Victoria and Bonnie Aarons as the titular character.
When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret.
Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorised audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned…
As with the Annabelle movies, the film is an offshoot from The Conjuring franchise as part of a new universe of supernatural-themed scare movies. It has been rated ‘R’ by the MPAA for “terror, violence, and disturbing/bloody images.”
The Nun is released theatrically by New Line Cinema on September 7, 2018.
