‘What happens after the horror movie?’
Last Girl Standing is a 2015 American slasher horror feature film written and directed by Benjamin R. Moody and produced by Rachel Moody.
The film stars Akasha Villalobos, Danielle Evon Ploeger, Brian Villalobos, JD Carrera, Ryan Hamilton, Kelsey Pribilski, Laura Ray and Chris J. Knight.
Five years ago, a masked killer brutally murdered a group of friends. Since then, Camryn, the lone survivor, has struggled to reclaim her shattered life. Wracked with guilt and paranoia, can Camryn ever have a normal life again or is she destined to be alone?
” …a serious, quite somber character study, an examination of mental illness, specifically PTSD. Writer and Director Benjamin R. Moody uses the format of the slasher film as a jumping off point, but then abandons the tropes of the genre completely. Although the approach is mostly refreshing, it also makes for quite a grim, sour affair.” Elliott Maguire, UK Horror Scene
“Moody obviously did his homework before stepping into the director’s seat, riddling the film with numerous subtle nods to some of the best slashers of yesteryear. Though the movie focused more on the dramatic elements of the story, there were some serviceable horrific scenes peppered throughout.” Luis H.C., Bloody Disgusting
“It’s partly brilliant, but there’s also a lot of duff ideas that are lazily added into the movie just to give it a conclusion. There are several other directions the movie could have gone, and each one of them is better than what they did. A real shame, as there was a lot of promise in Last Girl Standing that just didn’t deliver.” Luke Owen, Flickering Myth
“Overall, Last Girl Standing is a credible first time feature with promise and an interesting angle from which to view the horror genre. It’s just missing that je ne sais quoi to catapult it to something more.” Sacha Hall, The Hollywood News
