‘Survival is all that is left’
Anger of the Dead is a 2015 Italian-Canadian post-apocalyptic horror film produced by Uwe Boll (House of the Dead; Alone in the Dark; BloodRayne: The Third Reich) and Luca Boni, and written and directed by Francesco Picone (Dead Bride; based on his 2013 short film of the same name). Also known as aka Apocalisse Zero
The film stars Aaron Stielstra, Michael Segal, Marius Bizau, Désirée Giorgetti, Claudio Camilli, David White, Ally McClelland, Roberta Sparta.
Reviews:
“While there are more than a few slow spots in Picone’s first full-length presentation, his ability to convey a fairly decent story is what pulls this movie through and sets it apart from a typical Boll production. The dive into humanity is deep, and for the first time in ages, I actually gave a crap about a few of the characters … Overall, thumbs up to Picone for a nice job with taking a sub-genre that’s been butchered and valiantly reviving it for a short spell.” Dread Central
“Acting is decent enough with all three main characters being very powerful. Stielstra in particular just oozes unpleasant menace, perhaps too much for some tastes. Sparta and Giorgetti both portray women who are very strong in their different ways. The direction relied too much for my taste on the use of quick cuts and slow frame rate for the early sequences, but this irritation died away as the film progressed.” Full on Fear
“We have our noble survivors trying to do things the right way, our cruel bad guys willing to survive by any means, the distant ray of hope that keeps the main characters pushing on through their respective personal hells. But personally I feel like there’s more going on storywise and there’s a bit more heart and soul here than I’m used to…” Ginger Nuts of Horror
“Stealing immediately from Zack Snyder’s overproduced but solid remake of Dawn of the Dead with a young mother who finds her house being turned upside down by an invasion of the undead, Anger of the Dead proceeds over the course of two hours to recycle trope after trope of the zombie genre before inexplicably tossing a dash of Martyrs in for no discernible reason.” The Movie Sleuth
