Insidious: Chapter 3 is a 2015 American supernatural horror film written and directed by Leigh Whannell – his directorial debut – for The Focus Features and Blumhouse Productions.
The movie stars Leigh Whannell, Lin Shaye, Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott and Angus Sampson. It was released on June 5, 2015.
Insidious: Chapter 3 is a prequel that focuses on a new story and family and is not a continuation of the plot from Insidious 2.
Review:
For a third entry in a franchise, Whannell’s movie is a decent and worthy effort. The initial manifestations and family drama are reasonably effective and engaging. Once the ghost hunting team move in, we’re into familiar territory that will please some, yet irritate others.
Still, there are certainly moments to savour amidst the Poltergeist-like shenanigans. Insidious: Chapter 3 is worth a look, for sure, despite the obviousness of the enterprise.
