‘Rising out of the sea to eat you alive’

Zombie Pirates is a 2014 American horror film directed by Steve Sessions. It was released on Retromedia DVD on January 21, 2014.

A dangerous young woman (Sarah French) offers up human sacrifices to a ghost ship of the dead in return for an ancient treasure. When she comes up one sacrifice short, her zombie masters exact their bloody revenge…

Reviews:

“While it runs too long with many repetitive scenes as Linda drags her white-bagged victims out to sea, or folds and unfolds a chair in her bathing suit, there is a lot to like for the low budget fan. The monster suits are really nice and I was especially impressed by zombie parrot as well as a tiny ship shot almost exactly like the Ghost Galleon that Amando de Ossorio forged for The Blind Dead.” David Zuzelo, Exploitation Retrospect

“This thing needed to be cut by 25 to 30 minutes in order to tidy the dispensable up. There’s sub-par lighting, editing and foley at different points throughout the film and sometimes they all converge in the one spot […] A once over the script to fix some of the dialogue, attention to detail in giving the most in regard to makeup, and just more blood in general.” Adam the Movie God

  1. Man this genre has been done to death, resurrected, kicked in the balls, then done to death again. We’ve had zombie beavers, pirates, sharks and strippers even Bin Laden. Then we’ve got all the vs. efforts: vs. Strippers, vs. Milfs, vs. Plants (although that was class). Where is it going, when is it going to end! I’m seriously having a hard time mustering even a twitch-on for anything zombie related anymore.
